The former Schweizerei house is now used as the Leibniz Institute for Applied Geophysics. However, its facade has been preserved.
Because the path leads through the forest, it is wonderful for nature lovers.
Schweizerei - Built in the alpine style.
The building was constructed with wooden cladding, low roof pitch, large eaves, and an outdoor gallery in the alpine style. It served as a private retreat for the Vice-Queen and Duchess of Cambridge, Auguste Wilhelmine of Great Britain, Ireland, and Hanover (*1797–† 1889) during stays at the summer residence Rotenkirchen.
Today, the "Schweizerei" houses branches of the Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources (BGR) as well as the Leibniz Institute for Applied Geophysics (LIAG).
