Stage 01: Haan-Gruiten - Wülfrath

Haan-Gruiten to Wülfrath-Düssel

Sensationally quickly one walks behind the stage start at the S-Bahn station Gruiten into the Düssel valley to the idyllic half-timbered village Gruiten-Dorf. It continues through the nature reserve Grube 7, a former limestone quarry up to the Osterholzer forest. From there, over the hilly heights again on narrow paths into the Düssel valley to Schöller, the place with the Schinderhannesturm.

Then it goes over fields and meadows to Düssel (that's the name of the place, not just the river). Düssel is a jewel of the Bergisches Land, with a water castle and beautiful dining options. There ends a varied and beautiful mountain and valley stage.
