Binenbach Circular Trail

The family-friendly and idyllic circular hiking trail along the Binenbach leads through the heart of the Ruppiner Schweiz. The mountain stream flows through a small, natural valley, from which forested hills rise on both sides. Just a few steps away from the turning point of the circular path, there is a beautiful bathing spot at Lake Kalksee. It is also possible to take a detour from here to the small village of Binenwalde, where the Sabinen monument honors the wife of the forester Ernst Ludewig Cusig, after whom the village and stream are named. In the 18th century, the forester had signed a perpetual lease contract with the Royal Prussian War and Domain Chamber for a colony at Lake Kalksee.
If you want to shorten the circular route or switch sides of the stream in the meantime, you can cross a small fieldstone bridge about halfway along the path. The natural path mostly runs closely along the steep banks of the Binenbach and is sometimes unusually steep uphill and downhill for the lowlands.

Tip: Below Boltenmühle, at Tornowsee, there is a pier for the Neuruppin passenger shipping. Departure times can be found on the website of the passenger shipping company, and tickets are also available at the Neuruppin Tourist Service BürgerBahnhof.
