In Lerbach, today a district of Osterode, the 2nd stage of the BaudenSteig begins. Thanks to the numerous mining sites, Lerbach was often referred to as a "mountain village" in the past, even though it is located in the valley. The path leads to the idyllically located Sösestausee. Today, the Sösestausee supplies the region around Göttingen and the area around Hannover with drinking water. Shortly after the reservoir, the path ascends. At the summit, on natural paths, it is excellent for hiking. Here in the area "Auf dem Acker", already in the Harz National Park, there is a beautiful high moor landscape. The mountain ridge consists of the Acker-Bruchberg-Quarzit. This is a very hard rock, which is why the "Acker" resisted weathering much better than the surroundings and rises to over 800 meters above sea level, guaranteeing magnificent views. The Hanskühnenburg rock announces the nearby Baude. From the tower, you can enjoy a panoramic view in good weather. Time for a delightful stopover. By the way: one of the most prominent hikers at the Hanskühnenburg rock was Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, although there was no rustic inn at that time. The goal is near: from here, the BaudenSteig leads downhill to Sieber only.
