This area is both Fauna-Flora Area No. 121 "Innerste-Aue (with Kanstein)" and European Bird Sanctuary V52 "Innerstetal from Langelsheim to Groß Düngen". A walk is recommended from the Franzosenbrücke between Hohenrode and Ringelheim to the Ringelheimer Mühle: At the bridge on the right river side to Ringelheim, there make a detour through the historic park. Then return the same way. The route passes by all the structures that the Innerste has to offer.
