The tour through Niedermittlau begins at the Heiligenkopf parking lot. From there, the Spessart trail heads south and then bends to the west. There are beautiful wide views of the Vorspessart to discover. In the forest, the hiking trail leads uphill again and into the Gelnhäuser Forest in the Rauschenberg area. Through meadow orchards, the hiking trail reaches the former EU center, where there is a rest area and time to view information on site. The last section of the trail leads along a path through the "Tongrube von Meerholz" and ends at the edge of the forest starting point, the Heiligenkopf parking lot.
