Karasek-Rundweg

The small town of Seifhennersdorf with its famous Karasek Museum is a good starting point for the 21-kilometre circular tour through the Upper Lusatian Highlands. The lovingly furnished museum tells the story of the robber chief Karasek, who was up to mischief in this area, and you cycle along beautiful meadow landscapes and past slag heaps reminiscent of the mining days of polished slate mining to Spitzkunnersdorf. Beautifully preserved half-timbered houses characterize the village as well as countless hiking trails, including the "Großer Stein", also known as the "Goethekopf", or the Spitzberg. Once you arrive in Leutersdorf, you will be reminded of the Karasek era in an original way in the "Oberkretscham". In 1800, Karasek was interrogated here after his arrest before being sent to the fortress prison in Bautzen.
On the way to the starting point of your tour, you will pass the "Querxenland" children's recreation center and the "Silberteich" forest and adventure pool before reaching the Mandau valley and the time-honored oil mill. Robber chief Karasek was a permanent guest here.
