Arrival / Departure: By train: from Berlin with the RE3 (Stralsund) to Eberswalde (approx. 30 minutes). By car: from Berlin via the A11 to Eberswalde (approx. 70 minutes). Directions: The starting point is the oldest half-timbered house in the city. Here you will find the Eberswalde Museum and the Tourist Information. From there, the path turns right into An der Friedensbrücke street and then left into Goethestraße. From there, the path continues to Friedrich-Ebert-Straße and then turns right. On the left side are the buildings of the Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development. Behind them, continue left on "Am Kienwerder". The park at Weidendamm invites you to take a short detour. The city walk continues to the left on Schicklerstraße, passing by the building of the Old Forestry Academy built at the end of the 18th century. In the direction of view, the Evangelical Church of St. Mary Magdalene from the 13th century is already visible. Behind the church, turn left into Salomon-Goldschmidt-Straße, then right into Erich-Schuppan-Straße after a few meters, and continue over the small playground lying diagonally in front of you until you reach Nagelstraße. Here you will come across some parts of the old city wall. Follow Nagelstraße to the left, then turn left into Jüdenstraße and right onto Breite Straße, continuing to the market square. On the left side of the market, you will see the Lion Fountain cast in the Royal Iron Foundry in Berlin in 1836. A few meters away stands the town hall built from 1903 to 1905 with impressive interior architecture. Directly behind it is the Old Town Hall, a baroque townhouse from 1775. Diagonally above the market square is the Paul Wunderlich House, the seat of the district and a permanent exhibition of Wunderlich's works. Through the glass doors, you enter the courtyard. Here, continue to the right onto Friedrich-Ebert-Straße, then onto Kirchstraße/Steinstraße, leading through the Old Town Carrée with its dining and shopping options. Before the Eberswalde Museum, turn right onto An der Friedensbrücke street. From now on, there are no more directional arrows in the ground. After a few meters, turn left onto Friedrich-Ebert-Straße, passing by the Rathauspassage shopping center and continuing straight onto Kreuzstraße. Then turn left onto Mauerstraße and continue to the Finow Canal. A footbridge crosses the canal and leads directly to the city lock still operated manually by lock keepers. Your city walk ends here.
There is the opportunity to use the towpath and the city promenade along the Finow Canal for a leisurely walk by the water.
