Strategic railway embankment

With its approximately 14 kilometers, the Strategic Railway Embankment in the north connects the Erft river with the municipality of Rommerskirchen in the south. As part of the Euroga 2002 plus, the embankment experienced its first rediscovery. Seven granite sculptures by the local sculptor Ulrich Rückriem have been distributed along this experience space since then. Today, landscape windows offer expansive views of the surrounding fields, panels explain the history and habitat of the historic railway embankment, and seating areas invite you to linger.

As a comfortable and barrier-free path, it is ideal for pedestrians, cyclists, and people with physical impairments. Numerous excursion destinations in the rural area between Neuss, Grevenbroich, and Rommerskirchen are located around the embankment. For those interested in culture, a detour to the Sinsteden Cultural Center, the magnificent Langwaden Monastery, or the Hombroich Cultural Space is recommended.
