Description by the author

The tour starts at Schaftlach station. We head south into Alex-Gugler-Straße and visit the Heiligkreuz parish church. Built by Tegernsee monastery architect Alexander Gugler, it has been attracting pilgrims for 700 years. The showpiece is the life-size, over 1000-year-old Schaftlacher cross. After the visit, our tour continues along Buchkogelstraße. At the playground, turn right onto the forest path to the sports field. We turn left and continue along the road through the shady forest. At the only crossroads, we keep left towards Allerer. We soon cross the main road 318 and reach Reitham. After a stop at the small chapel, we continue to Allerheiligen near Oberwarngau. Here we must visit the magnificent pilgrimage church. It has been a destination for pilgrims and supplicants for centuries.

After this, we follow the cycle path and the signs for the meditation trail to Oberwarngau. Shortly before entering the village, we turn left and cycle through Oberwarngau. After an underpass, we turn left towards Piesenkam. From there, we follow the signs for the Schaftlacher Pilgerweg again. The path leads via Thannried to the Allgau Chapel near Piesenkam, popularly known as the "Allger Kappel". 150 m after the chapel, we turn sharp left and continue through the forest. Our pilgrim cycle route takes us via Wendelsteinstraße and Piesenkamer Straße back to Schaftlach train station.
