Challenge kurz

The "Challenge short" is a sporty tour. It largely corresponds to the route of the annual Spessartchallenge. For reasons of nature conservation and sanatorium operations, it has been slightly altered in some sections. The starting point is at the Haus der Vereine (otherwise Salinenplatz). After an easy "warm-up" on the cycle path into the Kinzigtal valley, the route climbs up to Aufenauer Berg opposite the Schützenhaus. A magnificent view of the Kinzig valley is guaranteed. At the height of the Hohe Wacht, the route makes a sharp 270 degree change in direction. The route now climbs steadily uphill on a farm track with great views of Bad Orb and the Spessart. At the end, a first short trail awaits mountain bikers. The route then follows a forest path around the Lauzenberg to the refuge of the same name. The subsequent descent to Pariser Platz is entertaining thanks to another trail section. Through the Wolferschanzengrund you reach the Orber Grenzweg. A forest path branches off here, which leads to the trail into the Haseltal valley. After a successful descent, you follow a forest road above the Haseltal into the Wegescheide Gründchen. Next you reach the Teufelsleiter, a rough descent with cross roots in the lower section. After a few ups and downs between "Altenberg" and "Wintersberg", you reach the Altenberg Trail, the last third of which runs along an old cable car route. The trail climbs steadily along the Winterberg to the Tränenbrückchen bridge. Another highlight awaits mountain bikers here, the descent into Baiertal. The first section of this descent to the country road requires some riding skills. After crossing the road, a wonderful trail leads into Baiertal. An asphalt path leads to the other side of the valley. Here, the tour continues on a single trail (many cross roots) to the wildlife park. Above the enclosure, you ride to Haberstal, where another short trail has to be mastered before the tour leads back to Bad Orb.
