Duck" circular route

9.7 km - 2:00 h | Starting point: Info point on the culture trail, Op de Wohm, Ellingstedt

Start your tour at the memorial stone "Zur Erinnerung an die Erhebung Schleswig-Holsteins", follow the signs for "Ente" and turn right into Dorfstraße. You pass the traffic island "Dreieck Schönes Dorf" and continue over the Langacker and past "Gosch Sylt" until you reach a large crossroads. Turn left here onto the cycle and footpath on the K39 towards Dannewerk. You will pass sewage ponds, cross the Mählbek and reach the viewpoint to the excavation site "Viking Age Settlement". After approx. 600 m, leave the district road and turn right into the road "Aussiedlung Nr. 2". Follow this road and then turn left into Oberer Holzweg. After approx. 100 m you will see a megalithic grave on the right-hand side. Two more megalithic tombs follow after 100 m, slightly away from the edge of the path on the left-hand side. At the end of Oberer Holzweg, turn right towards Margarethenwall-Weg. On this paved path, the Margarethenwall accompanies you alternately on the left or right side. After the information boards about the "Haithabu-Danewerk" nature reserve, turn right onto Mölhornweg, which soon changes from a paved path to a flagstone path. Cross the K39 and turn left onto the cycle and footpath back towards Ellingstedt. At the "PAEX" sign, turn right into Wittsiek. Follow the road straight ahead via Osterende and Söhl to Dorfstraße and turn left into Dorfstraße. In the center of the village, at the bus stop, you will pass the site of the old school. You will then see the memorial to the fallen and missing from the 1st and 2nd World Wars on the left-hand side and return to your starting point.
