Kleiner Arbersee - Chamer Hütte

The starting point for this tour is at Brennes. From there, we walk along the toboggan run in the direction of Mooshütte. On the open space around the Berghotel Mooshütte, we can enjoy the fantastic view of the Lamer Winkel before we make our way through the Seewald forest towards the Kleiner Arbersee lake. Once there, we see the mostly snow-covered Seehäusl in front of us. We can circle the Kleiner Arbersee on an almost level path. We are now about two thirds of the way to our destination, the Chamer Hütte. However, the hardest part, the ascent from the Kleiner Arbersee to the Chamer Hütte, still lies ahead of us. Over the last three kilometers, we have to overcome a difference in altitude of around 400 meters. Once we reach the top of the border ridge, we are greeted by a magnificent mountain panorama. After a leisurely stop at the Chamer Hütte, we can start the return leg of our tour well refreshed. This tour is located in an area where the rare capercaillie can be found. Any small disturbance causes these large birds to flee, consuming enormous amounts of energy in the process. If disturbed regularly, this can lead to starvation. Therefore our request: Make sure you stay on the marked hiking trails in winter.
