The fruit trail, which is over 10 km long, circles the entire Katzbach-Loibling association area and runs through a variety of villages, open fields, briefly through a mixed deciduous forest and offers beautiful views of the surrounding cultivated landscape. The starting point of the fruit trail is in Katzbach-Loibling at Kinderkarten, where you can also park. From here, head towards Katzbach on the Ziegeleiweg. Before you reach Langackerweg, cross the level crossing. Turn left before the wooded area and soon after turn left again into the playground. Then follow the Wackerlinger Weg, where you turn left in Wackerling. After approx. 175 m you come to a field path on the right, which you follow until the next left turn. Turn left here and walk through the village of Brückl. Cross the district road CHA 14. After 300 m, keep left and after another 300 m, turn right onto a country lane. At Garsberg you should definitely enjoy the beautiful view. Continue along the northern edge of the settlement of Loibling onto Oberer Holderbühlweg and from there turn left onto Bachweg to Ponholzmühle. Follow the Alte Ponholzmühlweg along the railroad track to Katzbach back to the starting point. The fruit trail consists of over 100 fruit trees, berry bushes and wild fruit trees. Different varieties have been used to represent the immense diversity of existing fruit varieties. (In Germany alone there are around 3000 different apple varieties). The selection of varieties includes both historical and the latest varieties, robust standard varieties for every garden, but also sensitive amateur varieties, early varieties for fresh consumption and fall and winter varieties for storage. Tasty dessert fruit for mild climates and pure must varieties for juicing in harsh climates round off the range of varieties.
