The immediate border location makes the Osser interesting - in earlier times for smugglers - today for hikers. Since 1995, the Osser can once again be climbed from all four points of the compass. The tour from Lohberg - the so-called Osser Trail - is marked Lo1. It starts at the Osser parking lot in Oberlohberg. The moderately difficult to difficult trail through the mixed mountain forest, which seems to cling to the slopes, climbs steadily. Here you can feel the peace and quiet. The last section turns out to be rocky. The bizarre rock formations provide fantastic viewpoints. The exertions are quickly forgotten when you stop off at the Osserschutzhaus. The route back through the Osserwald forest to Eggersberg is on offer. Nature lovers finally return to Oberlohberg via the Fuchshöhle cave. Good basic fitness, sure-footedness and sturdy footwear required. Refreshments available: Osserschutzhaus (Osser), Lohberg
