Goldsteig S 16 St. Englmar – Grandsberg

Today's Goldsteig tour leads over the ridge of the Vorwaldzug. Passing the Markbuchen ski lift, the route to the summit of the Predigtstuhl follows an almost alpine meadow path across the ski slope. Take a short breather at the rock formation, then follow the path to the next starting point - the so-called Kuddernhütte, a weather protection hut that can be used as a shelter in case of rain. This is where the next ascent to the summit of the Knogl begins, which is adorned with a summit cross next to a small wooden hut. The tour continues via the "Pfarrerwoidl" with a rest bench to the large clearing at Ödwies. The old forester's lodge on this beautiful meadow was still occupied until the middle of the 20th century. The hiker then follows a forest path up to the Hirschenstein's brick observation tower. From the tower, you can see the route of the Goldsteig to Rauhen Kulm on the left, Lusen, Rachel, Falkenstein and Arber rise up to the east, and straight ahead you can see far into the Gäuboden landscape. The destination of today's stage is the Berggasthof Menauer on the Grandsberg, about 4 km away from the Goldsteig. The enchanting Mühlgrabenweg trail and the breathtaking views from the inn make this stage station stand out.
