Rundweg um den Fohnsee

Accompanied by a wonderful view over the Sengsee and Fohnsee lakes, the trail leads out of Iffeldorf. Over wide, partly rooty forest paths, the trail first leads along the Fohnsee and later along the Großer Ostersee through the unique icefall landscape of the Osterseen lakes. The Blaue Gumpe, one of the numerous spring pools from which the Ostersee lakes are fed with groundwater, also bears witness to the last ice age. The funnel-shaped spring can be clearly seen from a small footbridge. The route also passes two designated bathing areas - one at the Fohnsee and one at the Großer Ostersee. Swimming is prohibited outside these areas! Back in Iffeldorf, you can stop off at the Landgasthof Osterseen, the Vitus wine bar or Café Hofmark.

Author's tip: Two designated spots on the eastern shore of the Fohnsee and the Großer Ostersee are ideal for a swim break in summer!
