Tiefenellern - Herzogenreuth – Stockenberg – Blauer RIng

Start / Finish: Tiefenellern, Lehmweg / corner of Schlehenweg

The circular tour from Tiefenellern leads along the Ellernbach stream and offers views of idyllic sinter terraces and the Ellertal valley.

We walk in a clockwise direction. We start at the church in Tiefenellern with a hiking sign, on the state road 2281 (Ellerbergstrasse) past the parking lot to the left-hand bend. Turn right onto the footpath along the Ellernbach stream. The sinter terraces of the stream are particularly worth seeing and protected. Through the sparse forest, often gorge-like and very idyllic, the trail leads upwards.

On the way, a pump house of the Herzogenreuth water supply on the right. The forest opens up, continuing along the left-hand edge of the meadow on the path, which joins the paved main road at the entrance to Herzogenreuth (the highest village in the district of Bamberg at 560 m above sea level). Turn right there, after a few meters in the village at the crossroads. The Möhrlein restaurant is on the left in the direction of Geisdorf.

At the crossroads, however, turn right heading west. Continue slightly uphill on the paved road, with beautiful views of the valley at the top, then downhill to the Aussiedlerhöfe farms. Continue straight ahead, after approx. 150 m take the path on the right heading north.

Follow the path over a hilltop with sparse beech forest to the edge of the forest roughly to the north, i.e. to the right. Follow the land consolidation path over a long bend down to Tiefenellern. At the first houses, continue down "In der Ecke" to Gasthaus Hönig and the starting point, the church.
