Heimbach

The circular walking route features a unique collection of the most beautiful viewpoints and hiking trails in the region around Heimbach. With a trail share of more than 70% and the many rocky passages, including the steep climbs along the Rur hills, the tour clearly showcases its adventurous character. With the right fitness and the necessary time, you might even walk here on one of the most beautiful dream hikes in the Rureifel.

Heimbach enchanted us from the first minute. A path that is largely like something out of a picture book, adorned with views that we lose so much time over due to their beauty that the walking time of 6 hours seems almost flattering. The Meuchelberg is the starting point here and immediately offers the first amazing, somewhat hidden views right at the beginning of the climb that you can't miss. The route leads into nothing. This is the way to the viewpoint. Definitely don’t skip it! At the top, a small but valuable detour to the east leads to a rocky outcrop with a panoramic view of the Rur hills. After a large number of exciting paths along slate rock, you reach the first possible stop after a magical and sunny crossing of the bank, partly on piers. There is now a huge ascent of 250 meters ahead. However, the narrow path unexpectedly winds calmly and moderately through the valley cuts at the Herbstbach. It can be muddy here after rain. Just before the abbey, you are rewarded with a fantastic view of the Heimbach mountains.
