WWu Bernkastel - Maare-Mosel Cycle Path

Cycling path for city bikes, e-bikes or racing bikes starting from Bernkastel, returning from Gillenfeld via the Maare-Mosel cycle path. You will cycle through some illuminated tunnels (bike lights are recommended).
In Oberscheidweiler, you can take a shortcut of about 15 kilometers via the L52.

The tour starts in Bernkastel at the Moselle riverbank. After that, you will cycle parallel to the Moselle along the bike path or through the vineyards over Zeltingen, Rachtig, Urzigermühle, and Erden. In this first part, you will pass under the new (not yet completed) bridge for the E42 over the Moselle.

You cross the Moselle and cycle upstream for a short distance on the other bank to Urzig. Here you turn right and encounter a short but steep climb.

Upon reaching the top, you will cross the L56 diagonally to the right, which has a poorer road surface for the first kilometer. After crossing the railway, the road surface will be fine again.

You continue past Bausendorf and then return on a somewhat larger but car-free road. Here it goes uphill again with a fairly steep section after the intersection with the road towards Diefenbach.

You continue through Niederscheidweiler and Oberscheidweiler on a descending road. In Oberscheidweiler, you can cycle towards Hasborn and thus include a shortcut.

Over Mückelen and Strohn, you reach the Maare-Mosel cycle path at Gillenfeld. This beautiful cycle path initially declines slightly, but then it goes downhill all the time.

Continue along the Maare-Mosel cycle path through Wittlich, Platten, and Maring-Noviand to the Moselle bank, where the Maare-Mosel cycle path ends on the bike path next to the Moselle.

You follow the riverbank to Bernkastel-Kues, where you cycle on the left bank through the district of Kues and then cross the Moselle at the end of the route.
