Trekking route Leuven - Berlin along flat, quiet, and unpaved roads

Route on slow and particularly flat roads. This TREKKERS route is a flat alternative to the Europe Bike Path 1 through the Harz Mountains.

Definitely not suitable for cyclists. (With trekking diets that are NOT punctured along this entire route)

Between Halle (Westphalia) and Werther, there is only 1 ascent of 206 meters along the entire route.

If possible, this route follows (at most) sunken quiet forest roads and towpaths along canals. (mostly no "official" highways - partially locally signposted)

Ridden stages in 11 days:

Leuven-Weert (NL) 103km over old railway tracks through Limburg (largely paved)

Weert (NL) - Wesel (D): 84km along the Maas with Lottum-Lomm (largely paved)

Wesel - Münster: 93km including Wesel-Datteln Canal (partially unpaved)

Münster - Halle (Westphalia): 64 km (mostly paved)

Halle - Minden: 60 km along the Werre and Weser (largely paved)

Minden - Hanover: 69 km along the Mittelland Canal (unpaved gravel)

Hanover - Wolfsburg: 87 km along the Mittelland Canal (unpaved - gravel or forest)

Wolfsburg - Barleben: 77 km along the Mittelland Canal (full day) unpaved - gravel

Barleben - Brandenburg: 86 km including Elbe - Havel Canal (partially unpaved)

Brandenburg - Potsdam: 70 km along the Havel (fully paved)

Potsdam - Berlin: 50 km through the Grunewald (completely paved)

(Return trip by train with Intercity Berlin>Amsterdam and Amsterdam>Brussels.)
