Valby Hegne is known for its long barrows. No less than six different locations in this forest showcase these large stone graves.
They were probably constructed over a long period, around 3400 BC.
In the period we call the Neolithic.
In Denmark, we have both round barrows and long barrows. The round barrows usually have one burial chamber, whereas most long barrows have several burial chambers in continuation of each other.
The burial chamber consists of about three standing stones with a large capstone on top.
