This particular monument, which may have been part of the Hostal la Lleona that operated in the vicinity of the column, is part of a beautiful tradition among the people of Girona. The legend says that anyone who wants to be a good Girona local and never leave Girona or, if they must leave, return, must kiss the lioness's rear.
