With its 3718 m above sea level, the Teide is the highest mountain on Spanish territory. It is also the highest stratovolcano in Europe. The last eruption was in the year 1909.
The Teide is one of the 16 most dangerous volcanoes in the world (there are around 15,000 volcanoes on earth). Since 2007, the "Parque National Del Teide" has been included in the UNESCO World Heritage list.
