When Málaga was taken, the Catholic Monarchs captured all its citizens due to the harsh capture of the city. It is known that the Jewish population had to consist of about 450 people. They were confined in 1487 in Carmona and it was not until 1489 that negotiations for their release were made with Isabel, after which the Jews resettled in Málaga. The newcomers, along with those who settled after their expulsion, formed a large Jewish population. All of this led to criticism from Christians before the Council, and after the first decree of expulsion from the city in 1490, the definitive expulsion took place in 1492. The area of the Jewish quarter in Málaga was likely between the streets Alcazabilla, Santiado, Granada, and Postigo de San Agustín. The synagogue was located where today is the Pimpi or behind the Picasso Museum.
