The urban sculpture known as La Regenta, located at Alfonso II, el Casto Square, in the city of Oviedo, Principality of Asturias, Spain, is one of more than a hundred that adorn the streets of this mentioned Spanish city. The urban landscape of this city is enhanced by sculptural works, generally commemorative monuments dedicated to individuals of special significance at first, and more purely artistic since the late 20th century. The sculpture, made of bronze, is the work of Mauro Álvarez Fernández and is dated 1997. It is a statue slightly larger than life, positioned directly on the pavement, with a plaque at its feet. It is a tribute to the character and to the work in general of the great writer Leopoldo Alas "Clarín."
