Pasajes Thermal Power Plant

The Pasajes thermal power plant was a coal-fired power station that operated from 1968 to 2012 in Pasajes, Gipuzkoa, in the Spanish Basque Country. The plant was built in the 1960s on behalf of Iberduero on state-owned port land between the urban areas of Pasajes de San Juan and Lezo and has belonged to Iberdrola since 1992. The operational area measured 34,000 m2 and was dominated by a 115-meter-high chimney, which was the tallest in the province at the time. The thermal power plant used coal as its main fuel and oil as a substitute fuel. It consisted of a power plant block with an installed capacity of 215 MW.
