Convent of the Poor Clares of Santa Isabel de los Ángeles - Ronda

The Convent of Santa Isabel de los Ángeles de Ronda belongs to the nuns of the Order of Santa Clara , Rule of Saint Francis of Assisi.

It is located in the emblematic Duquesa de Parcent square, the most emblematic square in "La Ciudad" or the old town of the city of Ronda.

It was built in the 16th century and later enlarged . It suffered significant damage during the Spanish Civil War, which it recovered after an important restoration.

The church and the gate of the monastery stand out from the overall complex. The latter is in stone with a lintel and the coat of arms of the Franciscan order in the center of the lintel.

The church has a single nave and is covered with artistic vaults that hide the primitive Mudéjar scaffolding that can still be partially seen in the chancel enclosure. The exception is the heart, which is covered with a semi-orange dome. Access to the church is through a small atrium through a semi-circular arched stone door and the Order's coat of arms in the keystone , framed by columns above which is a niche topped by battlements and protected by a Mudéjar roof.

The tower stands at the foot of the church. It consists of three parts, the first of which is solid stone, and has a hipped roof.
