Chapel of Saint Andrew the Apostle (Confraternity of the Bakers) Seville

The Chapel of Saint Andrew the Apostle houses the Hermandad de los Panaderos (Fraternity of the Bakers).

The San Andrés Hospital located here underwent a thorough reform in 1760 , including in the hospital chapel (the only one left today), which took on the appearance it has today.

The doorway has a linteled opening flanked by Tuscan pilasters supporting an entablature with a curved, split pediment. In the center of this is a stone statue of the chapel's patron saint , of quite high quality and of unknown author. A large oculus illuminates the space and a single-span bell tower crowns the whole. On the sides are two ceramic altarpieces painted by Antonio Kiernam representing the titular images of the Brotherhood of the Bakers : Nuestro Padre Jesús del Prendimiento (Our Father Jesus of the Prendimiento) and María Santísima de Regla (Mary Most Holy of Regla).

The element that most stands out inside is the circular vault supported by pendentives supported by a cornice that runs around the perimeter of the church. It is decorated with recently restored paintings depicting the four evangelists and the four fathers of the Latin Church.

On the left wall we see the Santísimo Cristo del Perdón, a life-size crucifix , carved in 2010 by Manuel Martín Nieto and donated by an anonymous brother of the Corporation. The detailed treatment of the head and the cloth of purity stand out.
