Description by the author

Spectacular mountain route. With 110 kms and more than 2200 altimeters, this route aims at experienced cyclists. The route takes you along some of the nicest roads in the northern part of Mallorca and lets you discover some spectacular scenery so as to rediscover the joy of cycling.
You'd better start early to avoid heat and heavy traffic during a long climb.
From Port de Pollença to Pollença city (inland) you'll cycle on the broad shoulder of the main road. Once past Pollença city, traffic becomes very agreeable.
First climb is Coll de Femenia, 7 kms. Then you go somewhat downhill towards Lluc abbey, and then there's some more Climbing along the Coll de sa Batalla and even further to a small place called Escorca.
At the aqueduct turn right and prepare for 2.5 kms additional climbing. After that you're in for one of the most spectacular descents I know, all the way to Sa Calobra.
Sa Calobra is famous for its small bay with cristal blue water. You can reach the 'caleta' by following a short hiking trail with two small tunnels. Sa Calobra has a few restaurants and that's about it. You'd better start the way back before noon to avoid heavy traffic and extreme temperatures.
It's 9 klms to the top, along a number of hairpin bends and of cours the famous 270 degrees bend.
Take some time here to enjoy the panorama and then it's back to Pollença. The long descent from Coll de Femenia is fast and quite safe.
If you're not completely dead when you reach Pollença, there's this last climb tot Coll de Creueta, followed by a agreeable descent to Port de Pollença. If you're a real pro and you haven't had enough once you reach Coll de Creueta, feel free to carry on tot Cap de Formentor. That's another impressive bit of scenery. When you return to Port de Pollença to enjoy a cool drink, you'll have more than 3000 altimeters to look back upon.
