Girona - Gavarres Gravel 70km: River Ter, Baix Empordà, Montnegre & Els Angels

This mid-length gravel route follows various gravel roads and paths along the valley of the River Ter, leaving Girona from the north, and following the river valley until Sobranigues, where it turns south, to pass through the medieval stone villages of La Pera, Púbol and Monells. All of these villages afford opportunities for coffee or food stops in their main squares. The cycle tour then climbs out of Monells, along the paved road to Santa Pellaia for a few kms, before turning onto the gravel road, which climbs to Montnegre. After a short road section the route traverses on gravel to the top of “Els Angels”, where you can visit the viewpoint, sanctuary and restaurant/café at the top, before turning down the paved descent to Girona, and entering the city along the “Carillet” bicycle greenway.
