Road cycling. Val d'Aran - Pyrenees: Tour of Vielha

26 km route that forms a loop near Vielha, taking you along quiet roads and up some major climbs.

Although it can be done in both directions, we suggest doing it anti-clockwise. Leaving Vielha on the N-230 road towards France, turn right at km 3.7 at the Aubert and head up the local road to Vila until the turn-off leading to Arròs. Take a left here and head towards Arròs and the Varradòs Valley. When you reach the Varradòs track, turn left again until arriving at the N-230 road in Pont d’Arros. Keep going towards France until Es Bòrdes (km 12) and then turn off the main road and head up the Joeu Valley through the village. At km 15.4, take the track on your left that climbs up to the Varicauba forest. Cross the entire forest and begin the gentle descent towards Gausac and Vielha.

One of the attractions of this route is that you can link up 4 very interesting climbs: Saut deth Pish, Vilamòs, Artiga de Lin and Bassa d’Oles.

Points of Interest

Stunning views during the entire ride, especially over the Varicauba forest and the Maladeta and El Aneto massif. The route also passes through some of the oldest and least populated villages in Arán. With their rustic houses and streets, slate roofs, typical “lucana” skylights, fountains and stone washing areas, these settlements are full of charisma. The vegetation is very diverse, with hazel trees, cherry trees and forests of spruce, beech and oak.
