The Théâtre du Peuple de Bussang is a unique creative center in France, born in 1895 out of a humanist and artistic utopia. For almost 130 years, this atypical theater has kept alive the ideal of its founder, Maurice Pottecher, summed up by the motto "Through art, for humanity" inscribed on the pediment of the stage. Listed as a historical monument, the theater's backdrop opens onto the forest, and every summer it stages two major shows from the classical and contemporary repertoires, one of which, since its creation, has combined professional and amateur actors. Workshops, acting courses, educational activities, indoor and outdoor shows, artistic residencies and guided tours take place throughout the year. Guided tours are offered every Sunday at 10:30 a.m. and on weekdays during school vacations.
