In the Middle Ages, Hardoncelle depended on the castellany of Watefale near Saint-Marcel. The castle was attacked by the people of Liège in 1437. The d'Argy family owns the castle since 1529. Then, in 1612, she made a confession of her lordly house to her suzerain, the Duke of Guise, Baron de Rumigny. Then, the fortified structure passed into the hands of Villelongue de Wasigny, Verrières, La Salde de Montereau, Pétré, Samboeuf, Voyart, Eslaires, Beffroy de La Grève. At the end of the 19th century, Gustave Gailly, master of forges and mayor of Charleville, former deputy, resides in the castle. His son, the historian Charles Gailly de Taurines, bought the estate. In 1951, General Roger Noiret, future deputy of the Ardennes, acquired the property and restored it.
