The château of Grandpré consists of the remaining elements of a castle located in Grandpré, France, built by the Joyeuse, counts of Grandpré, at the end of the 16th century and the beginning of the 17th century.
The château is located in the municipality of Grandpré, in the French department of Ardennes. The site has long been strategic, situated on the northern slope of the Aire valley, controlling one of the few passages cutting through the Argonne forest. This is the Trouée de Grandpré. This passage has been compared to the Thermopylae by General Dumouriez, during the troop movements preparing for the Battle of Valmy.
