Napoleon Thermal Baths

The Thermes Napoléon in Plombières-les-Bains, a spa town in the French department of Vosges in the historical region of Lorraine, is a bathhouse and grand hotel from the 19th century. The building on Avenue des Etats-Unis has been protected as a historic monument since 2001.
In 1856, the "Société d'exploitation des thermes" was founded, responsible for the construction and operation of the elaborate bathhouse and the accompanying hotel. Since Napoleon III visited Plombières-les-Bains in 1856, 1858, 1865, and 1868, it was expected to attract affluent guests from all over France. The buildings were designed by architects Isabelle, Normand, and Grillot. The bathhouse in the center connects the two hotel wings, creating a three-wing layout. Guests do not need to leave the house to access the restaurant, the hotel, and the bathhouse. A comprehensive renovation took place in 1932/33 under architect Robert Danis.
