Abbey of Saint-Augustin-lès-Thérouanne

The Abbey of Saint-Augustin-lès-Thérouanne, Order of Prémontré, is a former abbey in the diocese of Thérouanne, then Saint-Omer and then Arras, in Thérouanne in the present-day department of Pas-de-Calais. It was of very ancient origin: Saint Radegonde built a monastery at Thérouanne, in 544, which was commonly called in Martinis. This monastery having been destroyed by the Normans, the bishops employed the revenues of it in endowing a hospital served by nuns: but Milo, bishop of Thérouanne, gave another dwelling to these girls, and put in their place, about the year 1131, the monks of Selincourt. This prelate granted the abbey a part of the head of the saint whose name it bears.
