The Regional Natural Park of Millevaches in Limousin is a French Regional Natural Park created in 2004 , straddling three departments of the New Aquitaine region ( Corrèze , Creuse , Haute-Vienne ). It is, in chronological order, the second natural park of the Limousin regional territory; the first, that of Périgord-Limousin , dates from 1998. It is one of the four NRPs of the new large region. It has been chaired since 2016 by Philippe Connan, councilor of Saint-Sulpice-les-Bois , who succeeds the former regional councilor of Corrèze Christian Audouin ( PCF ).
Covering an area of 3,143 km2, making it the sixth largest PNR by area, the park is organized around the Millevaches plateau , a vast Hercynian granite complex on the western outskirts of the Massif Central. and 1,000 meters above sea level and several plateaus and small peripheral massifs. The territory concerned is representative of a diversity of humid ocean-front landscapes (moors, peat bogs, wooded areas and agricultural grasslands).
