Bibliothèque de la Grognarde

La Grognarde library is the public reading facility covering the eastern districts of Marseille. Inaugurated in September 1988, enlarged in 1997, it was renovated in summer 2013 to welcome its users in the best possible conditions.

Covering an area of 330 m², it offers modern and varied resources for all publics: 11,000 adult books, 14,000 books for young people, 7,000 CDs and 2,000 DVDs, as well as 49 newspaper and magazine titles. The library also offers 3 Internet access points for subscribers and 3 public workstations for using BMVR's digital services.

A 60 m² room is available for shows and free events for all publics: storytelling, readings, workshops, exhibitions, meetings with authors, film screenings, video game tournaments, etc.

In addition, partnerships with local schools and social-cultural centers enable us to organize regular library presentations for children.

"La Valise Merveilleuse
For children aged 3 to 6, librarians offer readings from a selection of albums; each young reader is invited to rummage through and choose the book he or she would like to listen to.

"Club-lectures
readers and librarians get together over tea or coffee to discuss their latest reading.
