The Pont d'Arc is a natural bridge located close to and across the Ardèche River. It is located near the entrance of the Gorges de l'Ardèche, 2 kilometers from the town of Vallon-Pont-d'Arc in the old province of Vivarais in the south of the Ardèche in France.
The rocks form a 59 meter long and 34 meter high bridge over the river Ardèche. Nature has formed a natural arch over the river. The water, which can be very very high in winter, has formed the arch.
In summer it is very busy at the Pont d'Arc. Many tourists enjoy a day out at the Pont d'Arc. Many canoeists canoe on a trip that starts a few kilometers before the Pont d'Arc and can be 6, 15 or 20 kilometers long. In addition, it is possible to jump from a plateau into the water from about 5 meters and about 25 meters high.
