Before entering Sedan Castle, take a walk around it. Then you know exactly how huge 35,000 square meters is. The massive buildings, huge walls and thick towers command respect. Moreover, the castle looks so flawless from the city side that you could expect a procession of knights at any moment. But that only happens during the Medieval Festival.

As a visitor you can discover the complex with a booklet or an audio guide. These take you on a tour of the fortifications and a journey through time through the buildings from the earliest beginnings to the 17th century. You will get a glimpse into the daily life of the princes, damsels, soldiers and servants who once lived here.

Sedan Castle is one of the largest fortresses in Europe. Initially, only a Benedictine church stood on this site.
