"It is an imperial castle, dominating the town of Kaysersberg... Take the stairs to the top of the keep to enjoy a beautiful panorama over Kaysersberg and its vineyards."
Kaysersberg, a former imperial city, has its own imperial castle. The village was built around 1200 to close the roads from Lorraine and was an important strategic place in the war between the Empire and the Dukes of Lorraine. A huge cylindrical keep, one of the oldest round donjons in Alsace, with walls over 4 m thick, is a sight in itself.
Within this wall and under the protection of the keep, you can also admire the delightful house with its pointed arch windows! But don't be deprived of a beautiful view: take the 122 staircase that takes you to the top of the keep and enjoy a beautiful panorama over Kaysersberg and the vineyards.
