Maison du Gouverneur

The Maison du Gouverneur is home to the Centre d'Interprétation de l'Architecture et du Patrimoine (CIAP).
The gateway to the ancient castral town, the home of a medieval merchant family, then the presumed residence of the governor of Rouergue, the 450m² building now welcomes all visitors to discover the rich heritage of the Pays d'art et d'histoire des Bastides du Rouergue.
The permanent exhibition explains and highlights the characteristics of the Rouergue landscape, the particular urban planning of bastides, sauvetés and castellated towns, and the architecture and daily life of a medieval house.
Temporary exhibitions and activities (workshops for young visitors, guided tours, national events) are offered throughout the year for young and old alike!
So, on your own, with your family or friends, let us tell you all about the history of the Bastides du Rouergue!
For your information, direct access to the Maison du Gouverneur is not possible by car (narrow streets in the center of Najac), but parking spaces are available on the outskirts of the village.
