Founded in 1796, L?IMAGERIE D?EPINAL is the world's last remaining image factory, and today continues the adventure of creating images inspired by its exceptional iconographic heritage. Its historic workshops can be visited all year round, guiding visitors on an original, interactive journey through 220 years of images.
It has built up a priceless heritage of tens of thousands of images, created from woodcuts and stone drawings: religious and military images, tales and legends, songs, newsreels, educational plates, games, comic strips and more. Today, it is experiencing a real revival, continuing the adventure of image creation in the 21st century.
Located in beautiful listed buildings, its historic workshops are open to visitors all year round. It's an opportunity to enjoy an amazing immersive, multimedia experience on dedicated, easy-to-use, multilingual (F, GB, D) touch-screen tablets (Histopad®). You'll discover the different areas, 220 years of illustrated history, a fleet of vintage machines unique in France (including the famous Aquatype from 1905, capable of coloring in 9 colors), and the stages in the production of the famous images... We learn, for example, that at its peak, L'IMAGERIE D'EPINAL distributed over 12 million plates, in several languages, in America and in Tsarist Russia. The visit ends with the 300 m2 store, featuring a fine selection of Images d'Épinal, as well as a wide range of gifts and related products (books, games, objects, decorations, gourmet products, etc.).
Closed Mondays and some Sundays according to calendar FROM 2pm to 6pm
