In the heart of the pedestrian area and its shops stands the Arsenal Sainte-Barbe
A Gothic-style building built in 1470 on the site of the former medieval synagogue. In 1534, due to the lack of space in the Saint-Hilaire arsenal, weapons were stored there, hence its name of Arsenal Sainte Barbe, patron saint of artillerymen. In the 19th century, it regained its original function (storage of wheat, tobacco and hops).
In 1901, the first floor was converted into an auditorium and then transformed into a meeting room. The second floor was then used as a village hall. These functions of village hall and meeting room are still his current ones
A double-flight staircase is built above the Gothic door on the ground floor. The magnificent gable gable with teeth, characteristic of the Rhenish Renaissance, is topped by a thick stork's nest, which adds to the picturesque character of the building. At the corner of the facades, a statue of Saint Barbara from the 20th century.
