Bonny-sur-Loire, l’ancienne place-forte

Situated on the borders of the Puisaye and the Loire Valley, its geographical situation once made it an important town. In the 12th century, the Benedictines of the Cluny order established a priory which was unfortunately demolished in 1850. Burgundian in the 15th century, Bonny was a stronghold during the Hundred Years War (1337-1453). Indeed, the Admiral of Culan besieged the town under the orders of Joan of Arc. Moreover, Bonny-sur-Loire was at the heart of the Wars of Religion because it was coveted by both Catholics and Protestants.
