A unique site: the Nellkopf Infantry Point is an exceptional element of the Strasbourg fort belt built by the German authorities after the Annexation of 1871.
It is positioned on the slopes of the great Hausbergen ridge. From this promontory, it kept watch over the roads leading from the Kochersberg and thus the Col de Saverne, the gateway to Alsace from France.
It's an ideal site for an infantry flanking position, which is almost complete.
Throughout the year, volunteers work on the site, weather permitting and according to availability. Workshops are held several times a year, open to the local population and the curious.
Guided tours of the site are available by appointment, or on days organized by local authorities. For schoolchildren, history buffs and the curious, tours are available in French, German or English.
A signposted footpath from the Berges du Musaubach walkway leads to the site.
