On Friday, July 2, 1937, a French military aircraft went down in flames outside the village of Turquestein-Blancrupt, in the Sarre Blanche valley, at the southeast end of the Moselle department. It was a reconnaissance aircraft from the Essy-les-Nancy base that went down in flames. All five occupants of the aircraft died. The stele installed at the edge of the D933 in the direction of the Donon commemorates this event.
