At the exit of the hamlet of Dorst, a few steps from the chapel, there is an early 19th century Mennonite cemetery with several interesting tombs from that time still visible. They are characterised by rich plant decoration, the absence of crosses and numerous quotations from the bible. The Mennonites were originally from Switzerland, from where they were fleeing persecution. They found refuge in neighboring countries in the 17th and 18th centuries.
They advocated a simple life respecting nature. They had a very thorough knowledge of agriculture, which made them respected sharecroppers, often living on large farms.
The Mennonite cemetery in Dorst is not far from the large Dorsterhof farm. This farm has been run by Mennonite families for more than a century.
