COMMUNE DE JARNY

Jarny is a town where life is good thanks to a preserved environment that its 8,600 inhabitants can enjoy. Close to Metz, near the freeways, Jarny has a railway station and a transport network towards the communes of the basin of Briey and within the commune. Jarny is a green city, with a balance between countryside and city. As the gateway to the Lorraine Regional Nature Park, it stands out for the richness of its living environment: surrounded by three rivers, it has a sensitive natural area (the Droitaumont marsh), parks (including the Moncel castle), about fifteen kilometers of footpaths as well as allotments and a communal educational orchard.

Jarny has about a hundred shops, numerous service companies, industrial and especially craft companies, as well as several commercial and industrial activity zones. It has as many sports, cultural and leisure facilities as a town with 20,000 inhabitants. It is indeed
- a school pole: more than 3,000 students in 7 schools, 2 colleges and 1 newly renovated high school
- a cultural center with a municipal music school where 25 disciplines are taught, an inter-communal cinema, a municipal media library whose services are free for Jarny residents, a professional company and a municipal theater, a new socio-cultural space and 45 shows (music, dance, theater, etc.), most of which are free of charge, offered each year in Jarny
- a sports center: 1 intercommunal swimming pool, 2 gymnasiums, 3 stadiums, 3 sports halls, 6 tennis courts, 1 weight room, 1 skate park, bowling alleys, city stadiums
- a lively city thanks to a hundred or so associations, including thirty or so sports sections with 1,800 members, and thanks to numerous municipal and associative events organized throughout the year (winter festivals, Carnival, meals and snacks for the elderly, Plein Air de Rock, Fête nationale, Fête de la Nature, Heritage Days, etc.)
